Stablecoin TUSD can't be pegged again to the greenback


On the night time of January 15-16, 2024, the stablecoin TrueUSD (TUSD) misplaced its peg to the US greenback. Since then, the asset has not solely returned to the $1 mark, however has continued to say no. At the time of writing, the value of the “stablecoin” is $0.97:

On January 10, 2024, data emerged that the issuer of the TrueUSD stablecoin was having issue publishing confirmations of its reserves in actual time. On January 17, the TrueUSD crew introduced that it had “completely modernized its cash reserve audit system” in partnership with accounting agency MooreHK. However, by then the asset had already misplaced its peg to the US greenback.


Note that in March 2020, TUSD was buying and selling close to $0.91, and in May 2018, the value of the asset was $1.36, a historic excessive.
